*grumbles about hating current house storyline and how the show is more popular now than when it was good*

*runs off to watch season 1 like the house-nazi-purist she really is*

I think liking/not liking the current House storyline probably depends on expectation. When I expect a lot from a show, it never meets my expectations and I always end up disappointed and thinking that season 1 was the best. I did this with my last fandom, and actually had to stop watching the show because it was making me so upset. Now, however, I watch for mindless entertainment value, and have no expectations. That, I suspect, is why I'm loving House --I don't compare it to other seasons because it's just a show that I'm watching.

It's a hard transition to make (to stop caring about a show) but it really does save a lot of heartache (I learnt this the hard way).

There are still *parts* of it I like, and I do very very much enjoy seeing it get made fun of by [livejournal.com profile] mspaint_lolz, [livejournal.com profile] rustys_head, and [livejournal.com profile] not_pc_md. What I really really wish they would stop doing is giving house a lecture about what his personality disorders are. Because it really all has been said already. Sure this episode it was Foreman doing it instead of Wilson but it was the same old same old. I think I'd be more interested without that.

Another thing I miss is how in Season 1, every once in a while, there'd be some sign that House actually enjoyed his job. There hasn't been on since Stacy showed up, I don't think. He was still a miserable, drug-addicted jerk, but at least he got a bit of a thrill out of it. WOEz.

I *am* however, shallowly excited about the next episode, from the preview they showed. (I'd say what but I don't want to say unless you already saw it or don't mind)

I think they're trying to drive that point home this season, and I suspect, after they run House through the ringer, that they'll back off a bit.

I am, of course, more than willing to be spoiled for next week's episode. *g*
